Which schema markup still gets rich results?

The short answer: Schema markup labels what's on your page so Google can show richer results. Google has been cutting rich result types since 2025. Mark up what still shows, and keep it true to the page.

Based on Google Search Central and Search Console Help.

What it shows

  • Still supported: Article, Breadcrumb, Product, Review snippet, Recipe, Event, Video, Local business, Organization, Job posting and more.
  • FAQ rich results stopped showing from May 7, 2026.
  • Course info, estimated salary, learning video, special announcement and vehicle listing docs were removed in Sept 2025.
  • Use JSON-LD, mark up only visible content, and expect no guarantee of a rich result.

What to do

  • Choosing markup: Use types still in Google's search gallery.
  • Testing: Use the Rich Results Test.

The walkthrough

What is schema markup?

Structured data is a standardized format for providing information about a page and classifying its content [1]. Google recommends JSON-LD as the easiest format to implement and maintain at scale [1].

Which schema types still get rich results?

Google's search gallery currently lists types including Article, Breadcrumb, Product, Review snippet, Recipe, Event, Video, Local business, Organization, Job posting, Profile page, Discussion forum, Q&A, Software app, Course list, Dataset, Vacation rental and Movie [2].

Do FAQ rich results still work?

No. Google announced that FAQ rich results would no longer appear in Google Search starting May 7, 2026, and removed the documentation in June 2026 [3].

Which other rich results has Google retired?

Google removed documentation for course info, estimated salary, learning video, special announcement and vehicle listing in September 2025, removed practice problem in January 2026, and removed the sitelinks search box in November 2024 [3].

Does schema guarantee a rich result?

No. Google doesn't guarantee structured data will show in results, even when the Rich Results Test says it's valid [4]. Markup must represent the page's content, and content readers can't see shouldn't be marked up [4].

What happens if you break structured data rules?

A structured data manual action means a page loses eligibility for rich results; Google says it doesn't affect how the page ranks in web search [4].

How do you test schema markup?

Use Google's Rich Results Test to see which rich results your markup can generate, the Schema Markup Validator for general schema.org checks [5], and Search Console's rich result reports to monitor validity [6].
